“Amazingly bad service’ threatens hospitality sector” – Georgina Campbell (The Irish Times 13 Jan 2015)
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so.” – Kenneth B Elliott
A key strategic focus in 2015 for the RAI is to raise the level of customer service in restaurants across the country. We started this process by offering practical workshops in the Stephens Green Hibernian Club Dublin, Maldron Hotel Cork and the Pillo Hotel in Galway which were booked out with days.
Now we are offering a different style of course in The Learning Resort in Killarney. In ancient times Killarney was a Mecca for scholars. The University of Inisfallen was located on an island on Killarney’s Lough Léin or Lake of Learning. Scholars from across Europe including the High King of Ireland Brian Ború were educated here. The secret to learning then and now is the use of stories – the same understanding of a story that wins an audience’s heart and mind will also win a customer, employee, boss, or investor’s heart and mind, “Storynomics”.
Ensuring staff change their behaviour and attitude to customers! Staff who partake in these challenging workshop will be customer care ambassadors for your restaurant.
Marc is a master story teller and combines customer care stories with learning and importantly derives an action for the business. Feedback has shown that this works and participants are leaving with up to 8 or 10 actions from the day long course that they can implement on their return to the restaurant.
This course is for managers, supervisors and key staff who will become leaders in the restaurant for customer service. What they learn on this interactive and challenging workshop can be immediately implemented on their return. They will introduce new systems and standards and lead the way in dealing with customers. In addition, they will learn up selling skills that they can teach their colleagues and ensure the restaurant increases its turnover.
This one day practical workshop is facilitated by Marc Thornton of DTA Marketing and will include role lays, exercises and group discussions. MARC is a leading customer service trainer who trains over 2,000 staff annually and has published a book called “Winning Lifetime Customers”
