Killarney

While the tradition of welcoming academics to Killarney dates back centuries, the town has more recently become known as a destination for sightseers and holiday makers. The first tourists travelled to Killarney 250 years ago, and today Killarney is firmly established as one of Europe’s leading holiday destinations.

Originally, these visitors were attracted by Killarney’s incredible scenery and the fact that it is the starting point for some most beautiful excursions in Ireland. Today its wealth of exquisite restaurants, elegant boutiques and superb accommodation further enhances Killarney’s charm.

As well as boasting a 25,000 acre National Park complete with mountains, lakes, ancient castles and stately houses, Killarney also stands at the gateway to the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula – both regions are famous throughout the world for their breathtaking scenery.
